History

If there's one thing I like about playing video games, it's SPEED. Even when I got my first game (Super Mario Land for Game Boy), I was trying to see how fast I could beat the game. We had no internet access at the time, so little did I know that people all over the place were doing the same thing :)

After a while, though, trying to beat games like Mario Bros. and Zelda which weren't able to record times got a bit boring. A few racing games on the Game Boy and NES were fairly interesting, but not something I went crazy over (though I'll admit Excitebike was a lot of fun :)). Then, along came the SNES and a game called Super Mario Kart...

SMK was just flat out AWESOME. I forget exactly how many months I've spent playing SMK, but it's a pretty big number, I can tell you that! My favorite Kart racer of all time has been and will always be Koopa Troopa. I recorded some pretty fast times with him, and to this day I've never lost using him in Battle Mode :) I also played some F-Zero around this time, and liked that game too.

When the N64 came out, I was ecstatic! There were reports of a new Mario Kart game! But unfortunately, cash isn't something I manage to be able to get a lot of... it turns out that the first game I bought was this inexpensive little-known game from Rare called Blast Corps. It was about this time that I started finding out that people were competing online for timed games and such. I worked on BC until I had the best times around (they're still some of the best ever), but I slowly realized that not too many people were competing on BC either... I'd rented Mario Kart 64 a few times, but I thought it should be time I bought it, so, I saved up my money, thinking this time, I'd get Mario Kart 64.

I began saving around the summer of 97. A couple of months later, Goldeneye came out. D'oh! Getting MK was pushed back again... finally, after getting a job, and saving up a lot of money, I finally got Mario Kart 64 too, and started collecting many games. Usually though, I played the GP race a lot, and Battle Mode with my friends. Now that I've gotten better at the Mini-Turbo though, and I've found this site again, I'm going for Time Trial competition! And now, enough boring history ;) on with my Time Trial times...
